The sixth year of the survey, Active People Survey 6, started in mid October 2011 and ran continuously for 12 months until the mid October 2012.

The latest result also represent a statistically significant increase in sports participation at least once a week for 30 minutes at moderate intensity since 2010/11 (Active People Survey 5) with over 750,000 more adults participating.
Between October 2011 and October 2012, 15.513 million adults (aged 16 and over) participated in sport at least once a week for 30 minutes at moderate intensity. This is a statistically significant increase (1.6 million more adults) compared with 2005/06 (Active People Survey 1).
Since 2010/11 (Active People Survey 5), there have been statistically significant increases in 1x30 participation across eight funded sports, and declines in four funded sports.
